QFT Ltd has spun out from the Dundee University Amorphous Materials Group which 25 years ago started a revolution with its pioneering work on thin film electronics that underpins todayís large area electronics sector.


This is one of the first active matrix LCDs produced by the group in the early 1980s.


 
 
Roy Clarke - Co founder and Managing Director

Dr Roy Clarke has had a varied career in technology exploitation. He completed a PhD in bio-medical engineering at Liverpool University in 1982 whilst managing commercial development programmes in bioengineering for ICI and Johnson & Johnson. He has since had a varied career related to the commercialisation of intellectual property. He has worked as a research manager in industry as well as manager of university commercialisation and technical assistance programmes and manager of an investment fund for universities. In 1996 he co-founded the Danish BioProcess group which developed novel bioengineering production methods for food and health supplement components. He was general manager of the groupís Scottish and Icelandic subsidiaries and eventually worked with Danish investment group Novi A/S as advisor to technology development projects. In 2002 he moved to a position in business development at Dundee University and since 2004 worked with Merv Rose and Ravi Silva on the creation and management of QFT.
